RE: If Price Didn't Matter, What Trailer Would You Buy?

Easy answer....it would be a Prevost.

RE: 2004 Jayco 19H price

$10,000 still seems way too high. If it is REALLY nice I might be willing to go to $8500 but that would be my max offer. Some people just paid way too much for their trailers and need a large amount to get out of them. I saw it all the time when we were shopping. Lots of other 19' hybrids out there, so passing on this one if you don't like the price wouldn't be the end of the world.

RE: RV Wholesalers vs the local guy

I"m not sure you're in the minority. Using the high volume dealer pricing as leverage, it appears many were able to get their local dealer to match or get close enough. I think that's excellent and I hope more dealers come around. -steve I received my quote from RV Direct (including shipping to my city) and went shopping. I never mentioned the online quote, but I knew this was my target price and was even willing to pay a little more. The large Jayco dealer in Minneapolis wouldn't even come close. My small "mom and pop" Jayco dealer gladly offered to sell me my trailer actually a few hundred dollars below the RV Direct quote. And again, I never once mentioned the wholesalers price during negotiations. I have read more than a few posts stating that local dealers can't match the online wholesalers price. I am proof that this just simply isn't true. It is a competitive market and dealers need to understand this. Apparently some do and some don't.

RE: 2004 Jayco 19H price

$7000 to $8000 would seem more than fair for a 4-year old 19H. If I remember correct, when we were shopping in 2006 I could have bought a BRAND NEW 2006 Jayco 19H for around $12,500 from my local dealer. Is this trailer for sale by a private party or at a dealer?

RE: Warranty Work on Seasonal TT's - How It Works

We are at large campground that has 400+ seasonal sites and we can’t tow our trailer to the dealer. Lots of Jayco owners there, and my dealer told us that while under warranty he would come service the trailer at no charge. His only request was that we understood he would normally wait until he had a few service calls arranged so they could send a tech out for all of them at once. My only warranty claim so far was a dead converter. Called on a Monday and they said they already had a tech scheduled to be out there that Friday, so when I arrived that weekend it was already fixed.

RE: All this talk about warranty work has me worried

Bill321, I completely understand your reason for buying out of state. While I purchased mine locally, I wouldn't have hesitated for one minute to order one from a wholesaler if there was such a large difference in price. As others have mentioned, $4500 buys a lot of service even if you have to pay for it yourself. My small local Jayco dealer easily matched the delivered price quote from RV Direct, but the large Jayco dealer in Minneapolis was several thousand dollars higher and wouldn’t budge.

RE: INPORTING RV INTO CANADA

Here is a post from awhile ago about someone importing a trailer into Canada. Don't know if it would work as easily with a motor home.... Importing Camper into Canada

RE: Just how high???

I have the same problem at our seasonal site. It my signature pick you can see the front of our site really drops off. When the service tech from the dealership delivered your Jayco 31BHS we placed a concrete block down then ran the jack up all the way. Then, we had to put concrete blocks under the scissor jacks and run those up. After that we had to put another block under the main jack and run that up again. Looked a little scary the fist time, but had the wheels well chocked and hasn't fallen yet. ;)

RE: QUESTIONs ABOUT 2007 JAYCO JAY FEATHER

Bezoar, We were also considering a Jayco 29Y before deciding to go seasonal. I was told by the owner of our Jayco dealership that they got rid of the kitchen slides because of too many problems with plumbing leaks. That being said, I think if you take the extra time to check connections each trip you should be fine. Personally if I was in the market this concern wouldn't stop me from buying one. As far as the low ground clearance, our old Bantam also was very low to the ground. You do need to be careful especially with steep driveways. I have watched more than one long and low trailer like this scrape the ground going into gas stations. One of the reasons many ultra-light trailers are so low is help reduce wind resistance and make towing easier. While can be a pain it isn't something you can't learn to live with.

RE: Are you better off?

This thread may not last long since politics is at it's heart. :B I bet it will last if the responses are civil and not political. I hope it does, because I would be interested in seeing the results.

RE: Towing combination

A 2-Door Jimmy of the that year has only a 100" wheelbase. That is awfully small for that size trailer. I pulled a PUP with our newer 1997 4-Door Blazer and hated it. Our Explorer by comparison was a much better tow vehicle and pulled our old PUP so much better. I guess you could hook it up to find out, but I'm thinking you will find this not a very pleasant towing experience.

RE: Small Trailer Forum?

I think you are in the right place. This forum is for Travel trailers....regardless of size and make. I believe you will feel at home right here! I agree. But I also think you should spend time in the boondocking, hybrid, and PUP forums. I would bet that utilizing those would help you find answers to all the information you need. And by the way....I have one of those 30+ foot "stickies" and I don't even tow mine, but I am always happy to help when I can. :W

RE: Motorhome financing

I second the credit union advice. It really helps if you are a member with an established history with them. I was shopping for a ski boat last month and called my credit union about financing. I mentioned the "credit crunch" we keep hearing about, and they said that individuals such as myself with excellent credit shouldn't be concerned.

RE: Walking into a dealership...........

Pre approved loan thru your Credit union or bank... equals same as cash Yes it does at least until you start making payments. ;) Here is what I did. First I took several trips to dealers and made clear that while I was planning a purchase soon, at that time I was just doing research and had several other models to look at. I made contact with the salesman or owner I would be negotiating with so each time I visited so they would get to know me and see I was making multiple visits. Each visit I would say I am starting to narrow my search, and this would demonstrate to them I was serious about buying. Next I did research online both on this forum and looking at wholesalers to determine a fair price. I was fortunate in that my Jayco was available from one of the wholesalers (RV Direct) so I could price this online with delivery to my state. This would be my target price locally. The final step was to call the owner of my small Jayco dealer. I told him my decision was down to a few trailers but I really liked his model. I told him I was making a decision "today" and was pre-approved with my local credit union, so I wanted his best price. He quickly gave me a price that was actually lower than the wholesalers, and I told him it was sold. Took maybe 2 minutes. Hope that helps. :W

RE: 2008 Jayco 32BHDS - JAYFLIGHT G2

Nice trailer. It was near the top of our list, but in the end decided we wanted 4 bunks. I agree with Carl in that you need a substantial tow vehicle to pull this comfortably.
